Have you lost your Motivation?

WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR MOJO?  Do you ever ask yourself the question.  "What happened to my motivation?"    Do you feel like you used to be more motivated...  there was a time you were able to complete tasks and felt excited about your work, exercise and relationships.  If you have lost that drive to move your self forward and life feels boring.  You are not alone.

Motivation is needed for everything we do in our lives.  It is what drives us to  apply for a new job, make nutritious food, exercise, be social.  We need motivation to better ourselves.  Everyone falls into ebbs and flows,  but it can be extremely difficult finding self-motivation to climb out of those low points.

If you have the desire to gain more motivation, that’s the first step.  The number one way to begin motivating yourself is to have a desire.  Second, you'll want to ask yourself what kind of energy do you want to reflect to the world.  Do you want to be a positive force in this universe or a negative one?  If you wait to long to choose, you will most likely continue to feel negative and unmotivated. It becomes harder and harder to get your mind to a better place.

But, if you start with the first step, making the choice to be a positive force, then you can help yourself climb out of the negative and onto higher ground. Here are some daily activities that might work for you when trying to jumpstart your self motivation:

Positive Mind Set~

Do you talk to yourself?  Not out loud, but in your head?  What words do you hear?  You can't, you won't, you’re tired, you are not good at whatever..... this type of mind chatter is bad. It will bring you down and has to be eliminated now.  Positive self-talk is a great way to feel energized.  I like to suggest starting your day with a dose of good energy.  Start with these simple phrases. “I am full of energy,” “I am full of good idea,” “I am happy."  Watch what happens if you continue to tell yourself that you are great. I promise you, it works.  Adding reminders to your phone with positive themes, words or thoughts that you can view daily will help to get your mindset right.

Move More ~

When the body experiences physical activity a release of endorphins is triggered. Endorphins are hormones that give off positive senses. When expressed these positive feelings are experienced throughout the body. Most of the time when people exercise there is a shift in energy, positive outlook, an overall better mood.  Physical activity will help you sleep better and lower your stress. So why not give it a try?

Exercise outside in the fresh air and don't let rain or clouds stop you from getting outside.  Make exercise the fun part of your day so try something new.  Grab a friend and challenge them to a local obstical course, rent bikes for a day, rollerblade in the park, hike your favorite trail, or grab a group of friends and go bowling. Exercise can be anything physical. Get creative and find something you really enjoy.

Get rid of the negative~

Negative people, with negative energy have to go! These people will always sabotage your good mojo. I like to suggest using positive conversation topics when around these individuals.  If you find the subjects consistantly shift to gossip or negative talk try distancing yourself from these individuals. Don't allow these type of people to cloud your space.  Remember you have decided to be a positive force, so surrounding yourself with others who have a higher standerd of thinking, breathing and feeling good.  Positive individuals will help you continue to have a positive outlook on your life and will help you find your own  inner motivation.

Write down what you are grateful for (A Gratitude Journal)~

Writing down what you are grateful for helps bring focus on what is really important to you.  It will help motivate you to work harder to protect those things  that you are thankful for.  Daily writing will help you become aware of the individuals in your life that need you.  This can also help trigger motivation.   Try it!  Just write 3 things every day you are grateful for.I know your attitude and motivation will change.

Ask Someone~

If you go through all of these ideas and try them for several weeks yet none of them seem to help you feel motivated, you might need to reach out to someone else for help. A family member, a friend, a work colleague or even a counselor might be just the person you need to help you move toward a more motivated and happy life.

Don’t just sit back and keep doing what you are doing!  Make change happen, try these tips to work toward getting your MOJO back.  You are worth it!
